Mercedes-Benz has been revealed to be testing its latest super luxury two-row pickup truck in the snow of the northernmost Finnish city of Lapland. From the exposure photos, the new car carries a heavy camouflage sticker, while the rear tarpaulin covers the pickup cargo hold.
With both heavy-haul and sporting elements, the launch marks the coming retirement of a generation of Mercedes-Benz G-Class SUVs and the launch of the next generation of products in 2019. The pickup was made from the Mercedes Benz G500 4 x 4. It has a longer wheelbase and body than the ordinary version, and a car that can be used in the rear of the cab is designed on the premise of a comfortable ride of 4 people.
The new car has a 4 liter double turbocharged V8 gasoline engine, with a maximum output of 422 horsepower and a maximum torque of 610 Niu. The transmission is matched by a seven speed 7G-tronic automatic transmission. The price of the car is estimated at US $265000 (equivalent to about 1 million 820 thousand RMB).
2017 push X-Class medium-sized pickup
But Mercedes-Benz employees also said they would launch a mid-sized pickup truck in 2017, which would be named Class X, with potential customers as traditional pickup drivers. Class X pickups only landed in parts of Europe, Latin America, South Africa and Australia in the early stages, and it is still unknown whether they will be listed in the United States in the later stages.
10 million G63 AMG 6 x 6 pickup
It is not the first time for Mercedes to launch a pickup truck. As early as 2013, it launched a G63 AMG 6 x 6 pickup, which uses a 6 x 6 drive mode with a 5.5L V8 turbocharged engine with a maximum power of 544 horsepower, a maximum torque of 758 Niu meters, and three differential locks with the chassis. The selling price of G63 AMG 6 * 6 is 451010 euros (about 3 million 300 thousand yuan), with an annual output of only 20-30 units. Due to the scarcity of production and high tax revenue in China, the price of the car sold to China even exceeded 10 million yuan.
